An indispensable score by Italian cinematic jazz father Piero Umiliani is issued in its entirety for the first time. This is top class Italian crime jazz composed for a 1959 comedy directed by Nanni Loy. Chet Baker, who at that time was in Rome, joined Umiliani’s octet with his unmistakable trumpet for a red-hot session in October ’59 in the RCA studios. Besides his cool and dreamy solos, a colorful squad of musicians of the caliber of Roberto Pregadio, Berto Pisano, Franco Chiari, Gino Marinacci, Livio Cerveglieri, Nini Rosso, Marcello Boschi, to name a few, are featured here as well.
